Bright Days Out: Make a Positive Impact in Newquay
A One-Day Itinerary Packed with Feel-Good Activities
When the sun is shining and you’re enjoying the great outdoors, why not take the opportunity to do something that makes you feel great on the inside too? We love the positive energy that visitors bring to our town, especially when they consider people and planet while they’re here.
If you’d like to be a positive force during your stay, we’ve suggested a few ways you can make the most of the coast while helping to keep it special for generations to come.
About this itinerary: The following one-day itinerary has been created to help you get to know central Newquay better. The activities are all within walking distance or can be reached by public transport (a real positive for the environment!). Feel free to mix and match the activities to make the most of your stay.
All Aboard for Alternative Transport
Leaving the car at home and choosing other ways to explore is an easy win when it comes to reducing the impact of traffic in the town centre.
The Newquay Land Train is a fun way to get your bearings, with stops at Fore Street (in the town centre), Newquay Zoo, Trenance Gardens and more. You can hop on and off the train for a set day-ticket price or sit back and enjoy the full guided tour. The Land Train typically runs from April to October, and there are often special trips at Halloween and Christmas. Find out more here.
Hop off the Land Train at Hope Terrace for your next feel-good activity.
Hire a Wooden Bellyboard
Newquay is all about making the most of the water, but discarded polystyrene bodyboards have an impact on the environment. In 2022, community groups across the South West picked up over 1,000 bodyboards from beaches in Devon and Cornwall. You can help turn the tide on coastal pollution by hiring a wooden bellyboard from Dick Pearce & Friends. You’ll find them in the aptly named Hope Yard.
Explore by Beryl Bike
Beryl bikes are part of local life. The electric ‘pay as you ride’ bikes are available for hire using the Beryl app. With Beryl bays all over town (including at Newquay Orchard), you can cycle from beach to beach (or activity to activity) with ease.
Support Newquay’s Newbies
Everyone has their favourite spots, but new businesses need your support too. Checking out what’s popped up recently is a great way to support our local community of entrepreneurs.
New in Newquay for 2024: Introducing Rosa, a restaurant, bar and 18-hole mini-golf course. Whether you want to enjoy a round of cocktails or a round of golf, you can feel good while having fun.
