We love the positive energy that visitors bring to Newquay and the support they show our local businesses year-round. That’s why we’ve made it as easy as possible for you to find your new favourite brunch spot, cocktail bar or clothing brand.
In this all-weather one-day itinerary, we’ll guide you to the key retail zones in town and highlight just a selection of the fantastic independent shops, creative spaces, cafés and bars on offer.
Now you can get to know Newquay better, knowing that your visit will be a force for good – supporting local businesses and helping to create a sustainable economy for the town.
You could start your day at East Street or get to know Newquay even better by walking from Trenance Boating Lake. Walking from the lake to East Street takes around 20 minutes.
About this itinerary: The following one-day itinerary has been created to help you get to know central Newquay better. The activities are all within walking distance or can be reached by public transport (a real positive for the environment!). Feel free to mix and match the activities to make the most of your stay.
Station Parade & East Street
Your adventure starts with a feast on East Street. Depending on the time of day, you could pause at Saltd for great coffee, good vibes and sweet treats or Ginger & Joe for brunch, dinner or cocktails. There’s also Mix for colourful lunches, cocktails and winter warmers, and Tom Thumb for truly original evening drinks.
Bank Street
Now for a little retail therapy. Make sure you visit Clemo Books, Newquay’s independent bookshop, for carefully curated titles, storytelling sessions and author talks. Also on Bank Street, you’ll find Married to the Sea, an ocean lifestyle and clothing brand with designs printed in Newquay using water-based inks.
Fore Street
This area of Newquay is home to a number of businesses that epitomise the coastal lifestyle and mindset. Northshore has been kitting out surfers with boards, wetsuits and apparel since the 1980s, while The Good Lyfe offers plastic-free refills for everyday goods, as well as sustainable lifestyle products and gifts.
Wesley Yard
This tucked away community of independent businesses is definitely worth a visit. Wesley Yard is home to Project Eighty Three, a relaxed lounge and shop for motorbike enthusiasts, which serves great coffee, hosts markets and puts on live music nights. Also at Wesley Yard: Fresh slices at Pizza Jockeys, sustainable surf and swimwear at Sand & Palm, and pottery workshops at Wedge Studio.
