Cool Days Out: Discover Newquay's Colourful Communities
A one-day itinerary that will brighten your day in all weathers
As the daylight hours dwindle and the months get cooler, Newquay is the ideal destination for those seeking a brighter side to life. This itinerary is perfect for grey days, when Newquay’s colourful coastal lifestyle is exactly what you need to beat the winter blues.
From yoga classes overlooking the Atlantic Ocean to the cheery pastel hues of the houses in Nansledan, we’re inviting you to share in our unique way of life. We are full of kindness and will welcome you with open arms.
About this itinerary: The following one-day itinerary has been created to help you get to know central Newquay better. The activities are all within walking distance or can be reached by public transport (please consider the environment while you’re here). Feel free to mix and match the activities to make the most of your stay.
Winter blues you’ll love
As the days get shorter, it becomes even more important to carve out a little time for yourself. Unwind with a class at Oceanflow Yoga and let your eyes breathe in the bright blues of the Atlantic while you perfect your warrior pose. The teachers at Oceanflow Yoga offer vinyasa, yin, meditation and more from the sea-view studio. Find out what’s on during your stay here.
Going car-free and using public transport is a great way to be kinder to the environment. The bus will take you from the town centre to Nansledan (Quintrell Road). View the route on the Go Cornwall Bus website (select ‘all stops’).
The bright side of life
Nansledan is a new community on the edge of Newquay. It was inspired by the vision of HM King Charles III and built with the aim of creating a sustainable and thriving place to live. In addition to its wonderfully pink, yellow and blue houses, you’ll find boutiques, artisan shops and cafés to explore. By visiting Nansledan, you will be helping to support the new community, its businesses and sustainable initiatives.
Hop on the bus back to town (Newquay Bus Station) and head to Beach Road for pintxos boards at Counterculture.
Sunshine on your plate
Wild weather is the perfect excuse to let your food transport you to warmer climes. Counterculture is a pintxos bar inspired by the food of San Sebastián. Check out their menu of small plates and cocktails and visit them during your stay to soak up the good vibes.
