Porth is a great family beach with a huge expanse of sand, the start of our Porth to Watergate Bay walk. Head north along the beach before joining the coastal path. Head out onto the headland which seemingly juts right out into the sea. This area is known as Porth Island. Check out the blowholes along here which when the sea conditions are right, send plumes of water high into the air! Follow the coastal path northwards as the cliffs seemingly get even more spectacular, taking care where you walk as its a long way down!
Soon Watergate Bay comes into view and it makes for a breathtaking sight - 3 miles of thunderous surf flanked by towering cliffs and further on, the sea stacks that mark the start of Bedruthan Steps. Drop down the steep hill and take a well earned rest, marvelling at the array of kitesurfers, bodyboarders and surfers that mark this beach out as an adrenalin seekers haven. We're now heading back the way we came, this time greeted with views of Newquay's other great beaches - Lusty Glaze, Tolcarne, Great Western and Towan as well as Towan Head and the harbour.
