Bright Days Out: Experience Newquay by Bike
Spend the Day Getting to Know our Town Better on a Beryl Bike
When the weather is on your side, it can be tempting to head straight to the beach – after all, Newquay offers plenty of golden sand to enjoy. But there are so many other ways to connect with the local area, and you don’t need to travel far to experience an incredible day out.
We’re inviting you to become part of our world – to hire one of our popular Beryl bikes, take part in a local community project and discover the incredible variety of activities that create Newquay’s adventurous and outdoorsy culture.
About this itinerary: The following one-day itinerary has been created to help you get to know central Newquay better. The activities are all within walking distance or can be reached by public transport (you don’t need a car to become part of our world). Feel free to mix and match the activities to make the most of your stay.
Get your Hands Dirty
Newquay Orchard is a wonderful seven-acre urban greenspace in the heart of Newquay, where you’ll find a traditional orchard, forest garden, café, outdoor performance space and more. It was created for the community by the community with the help of over 1,000 volunteers. Find out how you can get involved with everything from horticulture to conservation by visiting the volunteer page, or pop into the café to support the initiative and see what the community groups are up to.
Explore by Beryl Bike
Beryl bikes are part of local life. The electric ‘pay as you ride’ bikes are available for hire using the Beryl app. With Beryl bays all over town (including at Newquay Orchard), you can cycle from beach to beach (or activity to activity) with ease.
Ride a Different Type of Wave
Newquay is known for its rich surf culture, but its impressive skatepark also plays an important role in local life. If you’re keen to swap a surfboard for a skateboard, head to Concrete Waves at Trenance Park. With phase two now complete, it’s bigger and better than ever.
The skatepark isn’t the only adventure to be had in this part of town. You’ll also find gardens to explore, Trenance Heritage Cottages, The Garden Cafe, tennis courts to enjoy, Newquay Zoo, crazy golf and Newquay Leisure World.
Hop back on your Beryl bike and cycle down to Tolcarne Beach Village for a beachside feast at The Colonial. You’ll find a Beryl bay close by, so you can leave your bike there after your big day out.
Get a Taste for Adventure
What better way to finish an active day than with dinner at The Colonial, the restaurant belonging to Tolcarne Beach Village. Book your table to enjoy an inspiring menu of cocktails, seafood BBQs and sunset suppers, plus one of the best sea views in Newquay. Finish your evening with a cocktail at Tom Thumb.
