Spring in Newquay
One of our favourite seasons… spring! In spring the nights begin to draw out, and the sun finally starts to make a warming appearance. Bird and gull songs echo throughout the town, and the flower beds are bright and blossoming down at Trenance Gardens. (That is when you truly know spring has arrived in Newquay.)
Spring is the shoulder season in Cornwall, as greater numbers of visitors start to arrive along with the rise in temperatures. It is not quite as busy as the summer, making it the perfect time to visit. So, say hello to Spring! Because we have come up with some ‘blooming’ fabulous ideas if you’re looking to visit Newquay in this beautiful season.
Take a Boat Trip at Newquay Harbour
Breathe in the Cornish sea air this spring and take a boat trip from Newquay’s Historical Harbour! There are all types of excursions to choose from. If you want to catch a glimpse of Newquay’s marine wildlife, you can take a trip out to sea with Newquay Sea Safari’s. You'll get the chance to see dolphins, basking sharks, porpoises and lots more! They’ll even take you to Seal Cove where you can admire Newquay’s grey seals in their natural environment. Or, maybe you’d like to catch something yourself for dinner? At Newquay Harbour you can also go on a relaxing fishing trip with Fish Newquay.
Go on a Picnic
Why not go outside and enjoy a delicious homemade lunch together in the spring sunshine? Not much can beat a pretty picnic in the sun! Our perfect Spring picnic spot in Newquay is the newly restyled Killacourt - a grassy and pathed, leisure area that offers uninterrupted views of the sea, other areas of the town, and the iconic island house at Towan Beach. The area is now more accessible than ever and features a café with accompanying small shopping outlets, occupied by local craftspeople and retailers. Situated right in the centre of town, the Killacourt is a great place for a pit stop in the hustle and bustle of it all. There is often music playing at the completely refurbished bandstand and seating area now better able to showcase the talents of local musicians, silver bands and entertainers. It's worth passing by to see what's on.
