Surf Lodges & Hostels

Newquay is well known for the surfing and this does reflect in the different approach some places take to their hostel style accommodation.

Newquay has no Youth Hostel but there are surf lodges and hostels that offer a range of similar style accommodation. All offer bunk rooms and large multiple rooms but in some cases the twins and doubles you would expect from a guest house. Some hostel accommodation simply caters for groups in large bunk rooms, with basic facilities, whilst others may offer licensed bars, an onsite pub and in some cases even basic cooking facilities.

One of the key differences with the surf lodges is they offer accommodation in association with surf lessons or other sports or water sport activities. In some cases surf schools and the accommodation are owned or run by the same company so surf lessons can easily be purchased as a combined accommodation and tuition courses.

Surf lodges and hostels are popular places for groups to stay, be it for a stag and hen do’s, sports group or even schools or university groups. Depending on the accommodation, the time of year and when you are staying (in the week or at the weekend) – they can be a more lively place to stay.
