Trenance Valley
If you fancy a day away from the beach then Trenance Valley is the perfect solution, with lots of different activities and attractions there will be something for all the family to enjoy.
Playgrounds and parks are children’s favourites and here you will find numerous activities to keep the little ones occupied. There is a free play park with swings and slides, an area for the children to run around, Newquay Zoo, Heron Tennis Centre, a miniature railway, crazy golf, Trampoline Park with soft play and a swimming pool.
If you want to keep fit while you are away, Newquay Leisure World is the place to go. This one-stop fitness centre offers all the facilities you might need including a high-spec gym and fitness classes throughout the day. If the gym isn’t your thing then they have a 25-meter swimming pool, which is set up for lane swimming at certain times throughout the day. To keep the children occupied or to escape those rainy days Waterworld also has a fun pool with slides.
For all the adrenaline junkies Trenance Valley has Cornwall’s biggest outdoor skate park, for those who dare to ride the Concrete Waves it is free to have a go, you need to bring your board with you!
Trenance Gardens
Situated just on the outskirts of Newquay Town Centre you will find the picturesque gardens known as Trenance Gardens. Beautiful rose bushes and colourful flowers are what you will see here with a backdrop of magnificent old trees for you to explore. If you pop in the VisitNewquay Tourist Information Centre before you go there is a free Tree Walk booklet available to tell you all about the different trees and flowers within the gardens. In the gardens you will find a hidden little gem, a very charming little Tea Room known as Trenance Cottages which dates back to the 1800’s. Inside this fascinating Grade II listed building you can read all the history and see old pictures of how the cottages used to look and most importantly you can have the chance to try one of the most delicious Cornish Cream Teas around!
Boating Lake
Next to Trenance Gardens you will stumble upon a stunning lake known as the Boating Lake. The Boating Lake is alive with different types of wildlife and a firm favourite for families to wonder around and feed the ducks at all times of the year. If you a feeling a little adventurous then you can hire a pedal boat and explore the lake from the water.
