Zoos & Aquariums
Newquay has two great wildlife attractions – Newquay Zoo and the Blue Reef Aquarium.
Newquay Zoo
Newquay Zoo is in 13 acres of lush tropical gardens and as a charity, your visit will support the vital conservation projects both at the zoo and around the world. From lynxes to lemurs and red panda’s to penguins it’s a fun and very interactive experience.
Let the kids run wild and enjoy some family time whilst you watch the penguins diving in and out of their pool, visit the creepy crawlies in the Tropical House, watch the lynx tuck into their lunch and learn about conservation.
Visit the African Savanna exhibit, home to stunning black wildebeest, nyala antelope, and zebras in a mixed species herd you can view from a birds-eye view platform.
Look high up into the trees for beautiful red pandas, meerkats on sentry duty, and otters playing in their stream. As well as a large variety of unusual species, the zoo has a village farm with more familiar faces that children love like Spike the pygmy goat.
Blue Reef Aquarium
Newquay Blue Reef Aquarium has over 40 naturally themed habitats that take you on a fantastic journey from Cornish waters to exotic seas. Come face to face with freshwater turtles and meet amazing pufferfish! At the Aquarium’s heart is the ocean tank where an underwater tunnel offers incredible views of the giant Loggerhead turtle, reef sharks and shoals of colourful fish.
Tickets are valid all day so if you missed the feeding times and fascinating talks that go with them you can return later in the day. The aquarium is located right by Towan beach.
