Cool Days Out: Take Part in a Local Off-Season Ritual
A one-day itinerary that will inspire you to make the most of the daylight hours
Newquay rewards early risers with magic light and great coffee. This itinerary invites you to be part of our world – to take part in our regular morning rituals that make the most of every minute of daylight.
You’ll start your day surfer-spotting at Fistral, before following the coastal path to the town centre to enjoy Newquay’s coffee culture and the BIG Newquay Market. We hope it inspires you to maximise every moment of your break.
About this itinerary: The following one-day itinerary has been created to help you get to know central Newquay better. The activities are all within walking distance or can be reached by public transport (you don’t need a car to become part of our world). Feel free to mix and match the activities to make the most of your stay.
Watch the Dawn Patrol Surfers
Dawn patrol is the ritual of waking up early to surf during the first few hours of daylight. Wrap up warm and head to the Esplanade above Fistral Beach to spot locals as they head out to make the most of the morning surf.
Walk the South West Coast Path from Fistral Beach to the town centre. Follow the coastal path around the headland to enjoy far-reaching Atlantic views.
Enjoy a Well-Earned Coffee Break
An early start creates the perfect opportunity to dip into one of Newquay’s independent cafés. Milk serves fresh pastries, bagels and flat whites from its café on Broad Street, and you’ll find beautiful brunches, acai bowls and colourful smoothies at Box & Barber on Fore Street. It’s also worth checking out Fore Street Café. At the other end of town on Station Parade, try local favourite Saltd - a family friendly community café, celebrating all things Newquay.
Support Local Businesses
The BIG Newquay Market is a monthly event held at the Killacourt. It brings together around 50 local creators and curators selling home and lifestyle products, vintage goods and local food and drink. Catch it on the first Saturday of every month, with Christmas specials in the winter. Find out more here.
