A One-Day Itinerary Designed to Pique your Curiosity
Newquay bustles with creative energy. There’s always something new to discover – no matter what time of year you visit. But when the sun is shining, you can really make the most of the outdoor performances and markets.
Get ready to immerse yourself in Newquay’s creative scene through an itinerary that introduces you to a selection of the town’s independent retailers, makers and performance spaces. Be curious and get stuck in while you’re here – we can’t wait to share Newquay’s culture of creativity with you.
About this itinerary: The following one-day itinerary has been created to help you get to know central Newquay better. The activities are all within walking distance or can be reached by public transport (so you can get creative and leave your car at home). Feel free to mix and match the activities to make the most of your stay.
Books and Brilliant Talks
Make sure your next stay is a real page-turner. Clemo Books is Newquay’s very own independent bookshop, which opened in 2023 following a successful Crowdfunder campaign. Head to Bank Street to browse the fascinating selection of books or enjoy talks from debut authors. Follow Clemo Books on Instagram to find out about events happening during your stay.
Killacourt: A Hub of Creativity
Just a short stroll from Clemo Books, you’ll find the Killacourt. This public greenspace is perfect for relaxing with a picnic. It’s also a bustling hub of enterprise units, a place for local businesses to grow and home of the BIG Newquay Market.
Wonderful Workshops
If you fancy getting creative yourself, make sure you check out Craft T Club at the Killacourt. You could try a workshop in pottery painting, working with wire or mosaic making. You could even treat the kids to a crafting session. Find out what’s on during your visit by following Craft T Club on Instagram.
Using public transport is a fantastic way to explore the local area. The number 59 and 59a buses help connect the dots between major attractions. See the route and start planning your journey here.
Performances and Plays
Place creativity centre stage during your break. At Newquay Orchard’s traditional playing place, ‘Plen an Gwari’, you can catch open-air performances and comedy shows or take part in yoga classes (see what’s on here). Newquay has your evening entertainment sorted too – for inspiring indoor plays, music and comedy, head to the Lane Theatre, which hosts performances throughout the year.
