In this all-weather itinerary, you’ll find a variety of experiences to pique your curiosity.
This winter also sees the arrival of a new cultural festival, so there’s never been a better time to book a cultural escape by the coast.
About this itinerary: The following one-day itinerary has been created to help you get to know central Newquay better. The activities are all within walking distance or can be reached by public transport (so you can get creative and leave your car at home). Feel free to mix and match the activities to make the most of your stay.
Adventures in Art
We’re excited to announce that in November 2024, Newquay will be hosting a winter cultural festival. The event will be a celebration of local artists, makers, performers, music and theatre with plenty of imaginative immersive experiences and workshops too. Alma Artspace and Rob Mennear are the first to be announced on the festival programme. More details will be revealed soon, so keep checking back to find out more.
Get to know Newquay’s history

Throw in a Workshop
Tor Pottery Works is a studio in the heart of Newquay that runs pottery-based workshops, courses and creative events. You could take a one-hour pot throwing taster course, learn about glazing or unleash your creativity in a paint a pot workshop. Tor Pottery also offers special workshops for children. Creativity isn’t just for canvases. At Wesley Yard, you’ll find a whole host of independent businesses doing things differently, including Pizza Jockeys, which serves fresh pizzas with unique names and delicious toppings. Also at Wesley Yard, Project Eighty Three, a relaxed lounge and shop for motorbike enthusiasts, which serves great coffee, hosts markets and puts on live music nights.
After your pizza, it’s just a short walk to East Street for truly original cocktails at Tom Thumb. Picture drinks shaken up with unique ingredients like foraged berry foam and house seaweed bitters.
