Location: Great Western Hotel, TR7 2NE
The Newquay Museum Group's first illustrated talk of 2025 is by Ann Reynolds the Senior Officer for the Rural Historic Environment in Cornwall Council’s Strategic Historic Environment Team.
Starting at 7:30pm on 22nd January at the Great Western Hotel you can hear about Cornish Stone Hedges their historical, ecological, geological and cultural significance and associated crafts. All are welcome to our meetings.
This talk will look at how we can read the landscape through its field boundaries and patterns to discover clues of age and past land use. Looking at Cornish Hedges as archaeological features we can understand how they were built and maintained in the past and how they reflect local character and distinctiveness.
Ann has almost 30 years’ experience of working in the Cornish Landscape, working extensively on the rural heritage of Cornwall.
