Car Parking & Car Parks
Newquay and Cornwall have a mixture of Cornwall Council run car parks and privately run car parks – both are normally ‘pay and display’.
Specific rules may apply to individual Cornwall Council car parks so please read any notices.
Privately run car parks will always have rules specific to each car park, even if it is the same operator.
Detailed information such as location maps, postcodes, charges and conditions are available for Cornwall Council run car parks is on their website below or scroll down to see a full list of Cornwall Council car parks in Newquay.
Cornwall Council Car Park Information
Cornwall Council offers the Countywide Rover ticket which can be used for one week in any Cornwall Council long stay car park in Newquay and elsewhere in the county. The Rover ticket is not valid in any other reserved or permit places and does not guarantee a parking place. Rover tickets are available to buy in advance by calling 0300 1234 222 or via Cornwall Council Here.
Our current Newquay map has the Council car parks in Newquay marked and is available in the Visit Newquay Tourist Information Centre, in the Newquay Guide or as a digital download on our maps page.
Alternatively, Newquay has a number of ‘Pay and Display’ car parks run by private operators. Many have automated number plate recognition systems, which have little flexibility or timing tolerance, so please adhere to the rules of those car parks.
Disabled Parking (Road Parking and Car Parks)
Newquay has a mixture of privately owned car parks and car parks run by Cornwall Council (our unitary authority). Privately run car parks have rules individual to each car park so attention must be given to all notices and information shown there.
Cornwall Council rules for parking on the street in Newquay, and the county as a whole.
If you display your blue badge correctly and your vehicle isn’t causing an obstruction, you can park in or on:
- Limited parking areas - for an unlimited time
- Yellow lines - for 3 hours or less
- Resident parking zones - for 3 hours or less
- Disabled bays - for an unlimited time unless roadside signs show time limits
Blue badge holders can’t park in:
- An area where there is a loading restriction
- An area specifically reserved for other vehicles or purposes. Such as taxi ranks, reserved spaces in car parks, bus stops or loading bays
Please note that Newquay has several disabled parking bays for general use on Grovenor Avenue, Beachfield Avenue and at Newquay Harbour. You may also encounter isolated bays on some other roads that have been purchased for the use of a disabled resident who lives on that road.
Cornwall Council rules for parking in Council Council car parks in Newquay, and the county as a whole.
Cornwall Council owned car parks allow Blue Badge holders to park for free if they have a vehicle that is adapted or they are registered on the Cornwall Council exemption scheme. The scheme normally applies to vehicles that are tax exempt. To register for this scheme you are required to submit a application in advance of your visit, for more information please call 0300 1234 222 or visit the Cornwal Council website. Link below. Please note this contact number is only available during normal office hours.
Blue badge holders must pay the normal parking fee unless:
- The vehicle is registered under Cornwall Council's exemption scheme
- The vehicle is especially adapted for a disabled person - How to register if you have an adapted vehicle for a disabled person
You must display a valid blue badge with the clock showing when you arrived, whether you have to pay for parking or not.
If you don’t correctly display your badge and clock, you may receive a penalty charge notice.
Blue badge holders paying a parking fee automatically get one extra hour of free parking. For example, if you correctly display a blue badge and pay for 2 hours, you can park for 3 hours. PLEASE NOTE: This additional hour will not apply in Cornwall Council Pay On Exit car parks.
If no disabled spaces are available, you can park in a normal space as long as it’s not marked for other uses, such as reserved parking or loading areas.
