5th July 2018
Ever wondered where you can go with young children in Newquay? Somewhere they won't get bored and easy to take a buggy or push chair? Well Hendra Holiday Park (one of the leading family holiday parks in Newquay) has very kindly given us their top 5 recommendations of things to do in Newquay with a baby or toddler! Thanks Hendra!
5 Things To Do in Newquay with a Baby or Toddler
Newquay is the perfect seaside resort for tiny tots and babies, with lots of things to do, which will keep both little people and their parents happy.
1. Newquay Zoo
Newquay Zoo is the perfect place to take a baby or toddler, set in beautiful gardens, with a range of animals to amuse and please your little one. There is a farm area, with pigs and goats and the opportunity to pet them. Other animals there include monkeys, penguins, red pandas, meerkats, lions and armadillos to name a few. There are play parks, many a picnic area, along with Café Lemur for good-value tasty food, and food kiosks open in the summer.
2. Blue Reef Aquarium
The Blue Reef Aquarium will keep little eyes fascinated with colourful fish everywhere. Little people will be transfixed in the underwater tunnel with the giant ocean display. There are colourful corals, a giant pacific octopus, and black tip reef sharks. There is a café here too, with a microwave for parental use.
3. Newquay Harbour
Newquay Harbour is a picturesque spot. It is easily accessible for pushchairs, via a hill, which is not too steep. The harbour is sheltered out of the wind. Little ones will love looking at the fishing boats, trying to spot a seal, having an ice cream, or simply playing on the sand.
4. Trenance Gardens
Trenance Gardens is the perfect place for babies and toddlers. Walk around these lovely gardens and feed the ducks. Enjoy the play park, for toddlers, along with a small train, and paddleboats (please note the train and paddleboats are seasonal attractions). There are many cafes to stop for refreshments too including the Lakeside Café, which sells tapas, sandwiches, main meals and cakes, the Heron Tennis Club Café for courtside views, and The Garden at the renovated Trenance Cottages with its ditsy décor, homemade cakes, ice cream and fresh sandwiches.
5. Little Fistral – Fistral Walk
Walk from Little Fistral to Fistral on this pram friendly headland walk. Stop for a drink, or food, and browse the shops by the beach. There’s Rick Stein’s Fish and Chips, The Beach Bar, The Fish House, and The Stable. If you fancy walking further you can walk to the other end of Fistral along the path by the golf course which is a bit bumpy but we have often managed to squeeze a buggy down there! Fistral Beach is perfect for young ones, with parking right by the beach making it very accessible.
