Escape Surf School is based at the centre of UK surfing; Newquay in Cornwall and we've been teaching people to surf for over 17 years.
As well as being one of the longest running UK Surf Schools we are the only Surf School in Newquay to boast not one, but two Ex-Professional Surfers on their Full Time Coaching Team: Head Coach Mike Young & Senior Coach Reubin Pearce.
We love teaching complete beginners but we also teach Intermediate and Advanced Surf Coaching and are the only surf school in Newquay offering outback, technical & progressive surf lessons on a daily basis.
We are a Specialist Surf School, in that we only teach Surfing. Our instructors are focused on their Surf Coaching, and not distracted by offering Kayak lessons, coasteering, paddleboarding etc, so if you want to learn to surf or improve your surfing, with Specialist Surf Coaches then look no further.
We are open 12 months of the year, 7 days a week, closed only on Christmas Day, Boxing Day & New Years Day. Whatever the time of year, you can receive the best Surf Coaching from the experienced team at Escape Surf School.
SURF LESSONS
At the Escape Surf School our aim is to give everyone an insight into the surfing lifestyle. You will experience a professional lesson run by one of our ISA qualified coaches. For most of our students the first lesson is a life changing experience and it is just the beginning, so we offer lessons at all levels, from complete beginners and intermediate, through to advanced and contest surfers through our elite surfing academy.
As well as offering Surfing lessons, we also offer a variety of packages which include surfing and accommodation from hostel based to luxury hotel!
At the Escape Surf School we are proud to specialise, not generalise. We teach surfing and surfing only, not kiteboarding, kayaking and so on!! This means we can concentrate on teaching surfing to the best level possible and guaranteeing you will find the whole experience a life changing event! Our coaches are specialist Surf Coaches and qualified to the highest level
All ages and abilities are welcome (although we ask that all children are at least 8 years old) and courses run all year, subject to availability. We provide surf lessons for individuals, families and small and large group (stags and hen parties are very welcome)
We are one of the only surf schools in Newquay to boast a professional surfer as Head Coach; Mike Young has been surfing for 35 years with 15 years professional experience on the World Tour.
We are proud of our instructors, all of which as well as being ISA qualified, are all excellent surfers with years of experience in the ocean. We believe this is invaluable when it comes to giving you the knowledge and confidence to take to the water!
We will ensure you get the best possible waves - . Because we are based between 2 beaches, we have the choice to use either. This is invaluable when the swell is small, as we use the more exposed Fistral, or when the swell is huge, and Fistral is dangerous and closed, we use the much more sheltered Towan Beach. You are therefore guaranteed to have the best possible lesson, whatever the conditions. Look at the Beaches page for more info on the surfing beaches we use
All our surf lessons, from the half day to the 6 lesson course are tailored towards your individual level of surfing which we will assess on the day.
On every session, we usually have a mixture of beginners and those that may have had 1or 2 lessons and perhaps more advanced surfers, therefore we will usually have at least 2 or 3 instructors working, (one for each level).
We always assess your ability on the day, and assign you to the correct group – this ensures that you willnever receive the same lesson twice, as you will progress through the levels.
Whether you are a complete beginner or surf regularly, you will benefit from a lesson with the Escape Surf School. As well as teaching the technique and skill of surfing we also place a great emphasis on safety and water awareness. We pride ourselves on being flexible, so if there is not a course to suit you, just give us a call and we can discuss your requirements.
All lessons take place on Towan, Great Western or Fistral beach, all of which are less than 5 minutes walk from the school. So we meet at the school, where we all change into wetsuits, and then proceed to the best beach for the conditions, tides and clients ability.
The prices include board and wetsuit (and boots / gloves if required) there are no hidden charges.
