Great Western is a popular family beach adjacent North to Towan Beach. The beach is backed by high cliffs. The best time to visit this beach is at low tide when, along with Towan Beach and Tolcarne Beach, it creates a continuous, vast expanse of golden sand. Access is via a steep winding path by the Great Western Hotel or via the other beaches. The beach is exposed to moderate Atlantic swells which can create great surf but is also ideal for novice surfers.

Great Western Beach is 2 minutes walking from the town centre where there is parking near by.
